Changes in UK higher education regulation which have taken place over the last few years have made the sector an attractive proposition for investors from here or abroad. Investors are looking for a return on investment but are also often motivated by a desire to disrupt the sector and deliver an educational experience suited to the 21st Century.
Whilst there is potential for new challenger institutions to contribute to the health of the sector, the challenges to entry are many. Education is not the same as service industries and there are significant regulatory hurdles through which a new entrant must address.
This project involved advising a high net worth individual on how to best enter the UK higher education market. Work focused on aligning the client’s motivations with the needs of higher education, examining how regulatory issues could be addressed and how the proposed institution could be differentiated.
